The Beautiful Struggle

On Wednesday night, I went to this karaoke/open mic event at Sammy’s Bar and Grille. It was hosted by my homegirl TaNeal (link) and it was the first night for the event, so I wanted to come out and show some support. Initially, I had a seat in the back and sipped on my beers. As I sat there, a young lady by the name of Dominque LaRue (link) got on the stage and spit her heart out. At that point, I started thinking about something that I’d like to embark upon in the near future. I want to document struggle in pictures and words.
Perhaps “struggle” isn’t word I’m looking for. What I mean is the development of ideas from conception to execution, lets call it a journey. Showing how everything comes together to make the hard work of an individual pay off. If that makes sense. In a way, I’m already documenting myself and my own struggles as I continue with my 365 Days project on Flickr (link) , but I’m interested to see what kind of approach I would take towards the journeys of others.
I have a few ideas, but I’m not exactly sure how I’d go about doing them. I guess I’ll see when the opportunity presents itself. However, I am sure that when I begin to compile things together, I’ll put forth the same zeal and effort that I apply to any of my other projects.
I can’t wait.
