This past Thursday, NBA superstar LeBron James finally answered the question that media had been asking for years on end. For the longest, James said that his decision would largely be based on the best opportunity to win multiple championships, but what about hip-hop?

Northeastern Ohio sports fans added “The Decision” to the other letdowns in Cleveland sports history. The Drive. The Fumble. The Shot. The Move. All mark a time when Cleveland seemed to be on the cusp of achievement, only to have it all slip away in a painful-yet-familiar twist of fate.

The headliner made his way to the stage, and as expected, the crowd greeted him with open arms. Obviously familiar with the material, the crowd recited nearly every word with Tha Ripper as he delivered an array of songs from his various mixtapes, including his recently released “The Cleveland Show”.

The King Arts Complex’s Pythian Theater played host to a massive fund-raising effort to support victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti. BLAKstar Media, R.E.A.C.H. LLC and an all-star cast of others pooled their resources to put together a benefit concert with hopes of bringing help to people that really need as much help as possible right about now.

Here’s the other half of my photos from the Ohio Hip Hop Awards ceremony for this year. Hopefully next time around I’ll be accepting the award for best photographer, but they need to create the category first. We’ll see, I guess.

Amidst all of the pomp and circumstance that makes up these award shows, there was a nasty undercurrent bubbling underneath it all, and whether not it was intentional or not, it came to the surface during the city roll call. Read the story.

Yesterday, special elections were held in many cities across the country. Some were to decide new city leadership, while others decided the future of certain programs and services. For most voters here in Columbus there was one issue to decide, but in some areas two issues were on the ballot.

It’s now Wednesday evening as I type this (I wrote it out on Monday), on Sunday the remnants of Hurricane Ike made it’s way through Ohio and left us in what Governor Strickland has called a state of emergency although it’s nothing compared to what happened in Texas.
